Do you know how to change your name in Fortnite? No? This article is special to you. Fortnite has been around for a long time now, so there isn’t as much help for the player when ironing out the more intricate details, such as changing your name in Fortnite.

Unless you happen to have been living under a rock for the last few years, you will be aware of the new gaming craze known as the battle royale.

Initially caused by the popular game PUBG, this multiplayer game genre has become one of the most popular formats for games throughout the last few years and has seen the release of outstanding games such as Apex Legends and Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout, Call of Duty: Warzone and Hyperscape.

However, we are focusing on what is arguably the best of the bunch. We are, of course, referring to Fortnite.

This game has swept the globe with it’s colorful and cartoonish visuals, unique building mechanics, plus a series of skins and emotes that refer to pop culture and more.

It’s a series that is adored by many, and due to so many people being already clued in on how to play this game, it can be quite daunting even to ask the community when something is unclear. Just be aware that you need a powerful gaming pc for Fortnite to run it smoothly.

One such issue that many players often have is finding out how to change their name when playing Fortnite. By default, the game will display your normal ID for your chosen platform, but this isn’t the ideal choice for everyone.

Thankfully, there is a way to change your name in Fortnite without affecting your ID on any other game or platform, and we have put together a simple guide that should help you do this stress-free so you can get back to chasing those victories royales.

How To Change Your Name In Fortnite on PC

Signing into Epic Games

To change your name when playing Fortnite on PC, Switch, and Mobile, you will need to access the official Epic Games website and sign in. If you play Fortnite on any platform, you will already have an Epic Games account, so don’t worry about registering.

Select the platform you usually play on and sign in with Nintendo’s details or even Facebook, for example. If you do this successfully, you will have signed in and will be able to make changes to your account details.

Bear in mind that you will have to verify your email to change your account’s details for security reasons, so be sure to do this before you go any further; you can do this right here.

Changing Your display name

Now that you have signed in and your email is verified, it’s time to change your Epic Games display name. To do this, you’ll want to look to the left of the screen, and you’ll notice a tab that says ‘general.’ Select this, and this will bring you to a screen that is host to all your account details.

From here, you’ll want to scroll until you see a section that reads ‘account details’ and finds a subsection that reads ‘display name.’ When you see this, select the blue icon with an edit symbol and type the desired display ID that you want to use going forward.

Then once you are happy with your choice scroll to the bottom of the page and select ‘save changes’. If you’ve done all the steps correctly then you’ll officially have a brand new display name next time you boot up Fortnite.

Just a disclaimer, though. Don’t change your display name on a whim because you can only alter your display name once every two weeks. So if you pick an unwanted or embarrassing name, you may be stuck with it for two whole weeks, so we advise caution.

How To Change Your Name In Fortnite on Xbox

SUnlike the platforms listed above, Xbox users will need to use a different method to change their display name in Fortnite, and this will require them to change their overall Gamertag, Meaning that this will be your name for all games and media on Xbox. If you are happy to do this, then here is a quick guide on achieving this.

• Press the Xbox button
• Select My Profile and Customise Profile
• Type your own Gamertag or choose one of the suggested options underneath ‘Choose Your New Gamertag.’
• Confirm your changes

How To Change Your Name In Fortnite on PS4

The PS4 also requires an alternative set of steps to change your Fortnite display name. And this will also alter your PSN ID for all games and media when using your PS4. If this is okay with you, then here is a simple guide to change your PSN ID

• Go to Settings
• Select Account Management
• Proceed to Account Information, Profile, and then Online ID
• Please enter your desired PSN name provided it is not in use already
• Follow the onscreen prompts to complete the change
