Horses are majestic beasts that humans have been riding for decades now, with Minecraft these horses have been added into Minecraft since the 1.6.1 Update to the Java Editon. Horses are a passive mob that doesn’t actively try to hurt or run away from the player instead Horses just graze through the plains biome spending its time with its herd which can range from two horses up to six total horses.
The horses wander aimlessly, occasionally stopping to rear, flick their tails, or even to eat the grass by lowering its head. While it may be eating, no grass is actually consumed in this action. These animals are similar to most mobs by the ability to ride in either a Minecraft or a boat, but unlike other passive mobs, it can slowly regenerate health keeping your trusty stead alive and ready to ride at a moment’s notice.
Different Horse’s Skins and Designs
Horses can come in a variety of different colors with a variety of different designs and even a wide range of attributes as well! Horse’s design can range from no design, white stockings and blaze, White field, White spots, and the final design are Black dots.
This extensive range of designs combines with a variety of colors White, Chestnut, Flaxen Chestnut, Brown, Black, Gray, Dark Brown allows for a total of thirty-five different colors and designs for horses. Horses that are equipped with saddles or armor after being hit with a potion of invisibility, those items stay invisible, which initially was a bug that Mojang decided never to fix instead they made it a feature allowing the horse to stay hidden even with armor or saddle.
Horse’s Speed and Jumping Ability
Each horse has a speed between 4.74 blocks per second to up to an astounding 14.23 blocks per second, while both of these are faster than the players walking speed the 4.74 blocks per second is very close to the player’s own walking speed which is 4.3 blocks per second. The slowest horse is similar to the player’s walking speed means that players should look for a fast horse before trying to tame it and give it one of your valuable saddles.
Roughly about 68% of horses can go faster than a Minecraft; Horses move backward at a much slower pace when compared to the player’s ability to walk backward. Speed potions can significantly change a Horse’s speed.
Taming a Horse
Taming a horse is required is the player wants to breed it, give the horse equipment, or control it while riding. To tame a horse, players will need to press use in it with an empty hand, and while the Horse will buck the player off numerous times after each time, the temper of the Horse will increase by five. The Horse begins with a temper of zero out of one hundred, after the initial time the player tries to mount the Horse, a random taming threshold from zero to ninety-nine is chosen. The Horse becomes tame if the temper exceeds the limit. Another way horses can have their temper increased is by feeding the Horse.
Once the player has successfully tamed the horse, hearts will appear, letting the player know that this horse is now able to have a saddle and armor attached to it. In the Bedrock edition, when a horse is killed, a death message is displayed to the owner to advise of the horse’s untimely death.
Riding a Horse
Riding a horse is a great way to move about your Minecraft world, the increase in speed and the higher jump height allows for much more comfortable transportation. To ride a horse, players will need first to tame the horse then attach a saddle using the horse’s inventory. After being on top of the horse, players can press E to open the horse’s inventory where they can place either the saddle or the armor for the horse.
After attaching the saddle, the player can easily control the horse and move using the same WASD keys that the player would typically use to move around the Minecraft world. These majestic animals have a charging jump, and to see the current level of jump charged, players should look where their previous EXP bar was located.
When being ridden, these animals can be made to jump and holding the control charges for a higher leap; in addition to that fact, the jump can not be affected by jump boost beacons or potions. When being ridden in water deeper into two blocks, the player will be automatically kicked off of the horse, and in deep water, the player will be unable to ride the horse. Nether Portals do not transfer the riding player into the Nether instead to get both the player and the animal into that dimensions, and players will need to be on its own with a lead dragging the horse through the Nether portal.
How to Breed a Horse
Feeding two adult horses, golden apples, or golden carrots activates love mode for each horse and causes them to mate and create a foal. The foal will grow into an adult horse within twenty minutes is no food is given to it by the player, Giving the foal an apple will reduce the time by a minute while feeding the foal a golden apple will reduce the time by a total of four minutes. Horses can be bred with more than just other horses, and they can be bred with a donkey to produce a mule foal.
